The Case Of Ramon Sosa - 1559 Words

INTRODUCTION: This case involved Ramon Sosa being a danger to himself. Sosa was transported to the Huntington Memorial Hospital Emergency Room by Pasadena RA #733, where he was placed on a WIC 5150 hold. LOCATION DESCRIPTION: This incident occurred in the front yard of 1542 Navarro Avenue. The front yard is surrounded by an approximate three foot chain linked fence. I stood in the driveway along the chain linked fence and removed my Taser from its holster. I then ordered Sosa several times to lay onto the ground. Witness #1 Michelle Zavala (later determined to be Sosa’s mother) was also telling him to calm down and lay on the ground. Sosa ignored my orders and continued acting in a combative manner with his hands still balled into fists. Sosa did not listen to her mother as well. Sosa then suddenly charged at me with both hands, which were still balled up into fists and yelled, â€Å"What do you want bitch!† Sosa then grabbed onto the top of the chain linked fence. I again ordered Sosa to lay down onto the ground. Sosa once again ignored my orders. I believed Sosa was attempting to climb over the fence to physically assault me. Sosa was approximately six feet away from me when I deployed my Taser in an attempt to gain compliance. Sosa was struck with one Taser probe in the upper chest. Sosa stepped back away from me and began to rip the Taser wires from the probes. The Taser deployment was not effective and Sosa continued acting in a combative behavior by swinging his arms in the air.
